Surveying for the Future

Overview of Position:

As a Rodman, you will play a vital role in supporting our surveying team by assisting with fieldwork and equipment handling. This is an entry-level position ideal for individuals eager to learn the fundamentals of land surveying and gain hands-on experience. You will work closely with the Party Chief and Instrumentman to ensure accurate data collection and smooth project execution.

Essential Functions:                                                                                                                                                                                                                   

  • Carry and position survey rods, stakes, and other equipment to assist with measurements.
  • Place markers, stakes, or flags to identify boundaries, elevations, or construction layouts.
  • Help the survey crew by clearing brush or debris to create clear lines of sight.
  • Assist in the setup and operation of survey equipment, such as total stations and GPS units.
  • Record measurements and observations as directed by the Party Chief or Instrumentman.
  • Maintain and organize tools and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Follow safety protocols to promote a safe working environment for the team.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in surveying is a plus
  • No prior experience required; familiarity with surveying or construction is a plus.
  • Familiarity with modern survey equipment and data collection software.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
